Anne Heche’s Estate Struggles to Cover Debts

The estate of Anne Heche, the late actress who passed away following a car crash in August 2022, is facing financial challenges. According to a recently filed status report submitted by her son and estate administrator, Homer Laffoon, the estate is currently insolvent and unable to cover its pending debts. The estate’s assets include a modest bank account, residual income from past projects, a corporation related to her entertainment career, a podcast membership interest, and tangible personal property. However, these assets are estimated to total approximately $110,000, while outstanding claims against the estate include three $2 million claims filed by individuals affected by the fatal crash. The status report further indicates that sales of Heche’s posthumously released memoir, “Call Me Anne,” have been weak, with less than $25,000 in total income expected. To address the situation, Laffoon is actively negotiating with creditors in an attempt to reach settlements and avoid lengthy litigation. The estate is also planning an estate sale for Heche’s personal property. The status report estimates that the estate closure process may extend until at least July 2025.
