Annecy Festival: Wallace & Gromit Creators Nick Park, Merlin Crossingham Tease New Untitled Stop-Motion Feature

Animation legends Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham will offer a sneak peek at their untitled stop-motion feature at this year’s Annecy Animation Festival.

The film follows Wallace’s invention of a “smart gnome” for the family garden, which develops a mind of its own. As events spiral out of control, it’s up to Gromit to save the day.

Park and Crossingham co-directed the film, based on a story by Park and a screenplay by Mark Burton. It marks Aardman Animations’ second feature film based on the beloved characters, following the Oscar-winning “Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit” (2005) and a series of award-winning shorts.

Other works Netflix will highlight at Annecy include films from Phil Johnson, Skydance Animation, and Xilam Animation, as well as a new adult animated series from Zack and Deborah Snyder and Slimane Aniss.

Netflix will also use Annecy to showcase its upcoming series, including the highly anticipated anime adaptation “Record of Ragnarok”.

The Annecy Festival will unveil its full 2024 lineup later this week.
