A disturbing incident of alleged sexual assault has come to light in Maharashtra, adding to the recent wave of similar cases. On August 21, a school teacher from Akola district was arrested following complaints from six school girls. The teacher, identified as Pramod Manohar Sardar, was accused of harassment by the students.
According to reports, the incident occurred after a school program, when Sardar approached a group of students from class 7-8. Several girls, reportedly between the ages of 4 and 5, alleged that they were harassed by the teacher. The school principal, Ravindra Samdur, confirmed receiving the complaints and stated that they were unaware of any such incidents prior to the students coming forward.
Acting swiftly, the Akola Police apprehended Sardar after recording statements from the victims. The case was registered under sections 74 and 75 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act. The Superintendent of Police, Akolka Bachchan Singh, confirmed the arrest and assured that a thorough investigation is underway.
This incident follows a similar case in Badlapur, where two four-year-old girls were allegedly sexually assaulted by a school sweeper. The case sparked widespread protests, with demonstrators blocking train tracks at Badlapur railway station. The incidents have brought to light the urgent need for stricter safety measures in schools and highlighted the vulnerability of young students to such crimes.
Authorities are investigating both cases thoroughly, with a focus on ensuring accountability and justice for the victims. The incidents serve as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding children and promoting a safe and supportive environment in educational institutions.
