The Minnesota Timberwolves are finally living up to their potential, and Anthony Edwards is a big reason why. The All-Star shooting guard recently claimed that he and Karl-Anthony Towns are the NBA’s best duo this season, and their on-court chemistry and impact on the franchise cannot be denied.
In Game 2 of their playoff series against the Phoenix Suns, Edwards led the Timberwolves to a 105-93 victory. He finished with 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Towns added 12 points and 12 rebounds. The win gave Minnesota a 2-0 lead in the series, and Edwards was quick to credit his teammate.
“Me and Karl-Anthony Towns are the best duo in the league,” Edwards said after the game. “We complement each other perfectly, and we’re both willing to do whatever it takes to win.”
Edwards and Towns have been a force to be reckoned with all season long. In the 204 games they’ve played together, Edwards is averaging 22.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.0 assists. Towns, meanwhile, is averaging 23.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists.
The Timberwolves have been one of the most surprising teams in the NBA this season, and Edwards and Towns are a big reason why. If they can continue to play at this level, Minnesota could be a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs.
