Antigua and Barbuda solidified its position as a leading yachting hub at the prestigious Monaco Yacht Show, showcasing its exceptional offerings to a global audience. The twin-island nation’s delegation, led by the Honourable Charles Fernandez, Minister of Tourism, presented a comprehensive view of Antigua and Barbuda’s thriving yachting sector during the late September event.
The delegation, which included key figures from the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA), marina operators, yachting businesses, and even an Olympic athlete, actively engaged with industry leaders, charter management companies, captains, and brokers. Their message was clear: Antigua and Barbuda is the Caribbean’s central hub for yachting, boasting exceptional sailing conditions, safe harbors, comprehensive berthing services, and a robust network of yachting professionals.
The delegation highlighted the island’s commitment to providing top-notch services for yachts, including provisioning, crew training facilities, expert woodworkers, and rigging specialists. This comprehensive approach ensures that yachts find everything they need in Antigua and Barbuda, making it a preferred destination for return visits.
The show served as a platform for valuable feedback, with captains and brokers offering insights on areas for improvement. Minister Fernandez’s commitment to addressing their concerns reinforced the government’s dedication to the yachting sector.
The success of the Monaco Yacht Show is already translating into tangible results. Over 50 yachts have confirmed their participation in the upcoming Antigua Charter Yacht Show in December, and brokers are already securing berths in English and Falmouth Harbors for the upcoming yachting season. Antigua and Barbuda is poised for a busy season, fully prepared to welcome yachting enthusiasts from around the world.
The highlight of the show was Antigua and Barbuda’s Pink Party, a vibrant celebration that brought the spirit of the island to Monaco. English Harbour Rum, carnival rhythms, and the pulsating energy of calypso and soca music fused with live trumpet performances to create an unforgettable experience. The party served as an invitation for attendees to experience Antigua and Barbuda firsthand, ensuring the country and its marinas remain top-of-mind for yachting enthusiasts worldwide.
