Antonio Gates Jr. Enters Transfer Portal

Antonio Gates Jr., son of former NFL All-Pro tight end Antonio Gates, has entered the transfer portal after his redshirt freshman season at Michigan State.

Gates Jr. had five catches for 82 yards and a touchdown in 12 games last season, primarily contributing on special teams and in a limited role on offense.

Despite positive comments from Michigan State receivers coach Courtney Hawkins about Gates’ spring performance, the wide receiver has decided to transfer in search of a better chance to earn more playing time.

Gates Jr. was a 4-star recruit coming out of high school, where he had 55 catches for 925 yards and 16 touchdowns as a senior.
