Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, is one of the highest-paid CEOs globally, leading a tech giant with a market cap of a staggering Rs 3.32 trillion dollars. Known for his vision and inspiring journey, Nadella frequently makes headlines due to business announcements and the launch of new Microsoft products. Recently, Nadella announced the availability of new Copilot+PCs, once again placing him in the spotlight. This brings attention to his wife, Anupama Nadella, who stands as a vital pillar in his life.
Anupama Nadella married Satya Nadella in the same year he joined Microsoft. Interestingly, their fathers were reportedly IAS batchmates. When the couple tied the knot, Satya Nadella was already a permanent resident of the United States. However, despite Satya’s green card holder status, Anupama’s visa application was rejected by the US. This meant the couple could only spend limited time together with tourist visas. To navigate these immigration complexities and make it easier for Anupama to travel to the US, Satya Nadella relinquished his green card and acquired an H-1B visa.
Anupama Nadella, also known as Anu, was born in New Delhi. The daughter of an IAS officer, KR Venugopal, Anupama pursued her education in Hyderabad and holds an architecture degree from Manipal University. While her husband is renowned for his career and skills, Anupama opted for the role of a homemaker, reportedly giving up her professional career to focus on raising their children. Anupama and Satya Nadella welcomed three children into their lives. Sadly, the couple faced a devastating loss with the passing of their 26-year-old son Zain in 2022.
Since her son was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, Anupama has been actively involved with Seattle Children’s Hospital, striving to improve children’s health. She has also made significant contributions through philanthropy. She reportedly donated Rs 2 crore to support the livelihoods of farmers and women in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district. During the Covid-19 outbreak, Anupama further demonstrated her generosity by donating Rs 2 crore to the PM relief fund in India.
In FY 2021-2022, Satya Nadella’s annual compensation amounted to 54.9 million dollars. His earnings before this period were around 49 million dollars per year, translating to approximately Rs 450 crore. Satya Nadella’s net worth is estimated to be Rs 6200 crore.
