Anvitha Narender showcased her golfing prowess, securing a commanding victory at the eighth leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour held at the Bangalore Golf Club. In a remarkable display of skill and consistency, Narender, competing in just her second professional tournament, completed a comprehensive seven-shot win. She consistently delivered impressive rounds, shooting three scores in the 60s (69-65-68) for a total of 8-under 210.
Narender’s performance was a testament to her talent, particularly considering her impressive debut performance a week earlier where she finished in T-8. Her opponent, Lavanya Jadon, faced a challenging start but managed to maintain her composure and secure a round of 73, finishing second at 1-under 209. Vidhatri Urs, also competing in her second pro event, delivered an equally impressive round of 68, despite a double bogey and a bogey at the end. Despite her strong performance, Urs ultimately finished in third place with a total score of even par 210.
Narender began the final day with a two-shot lead, extending it to five after the first three holes. She encountered a slight setback on the fourth hole, but quickly regained momentum with birdies on the sixth and eighth. Her lead further solidified with birdies on the 12th and 13th, showcasing her exceptional putting and approach shots.
Despite encountering a few bogeys in the closing stages, Narender’s dominance remained evident. She comfortably secured a seven-shot victory as Lavanya battled with three bogeys and two birdies on the back nine. Vidhatri, after an initial bogey, mounted a formidable challenge with five birdies in eight holes. However, a double bogey and a bogey on the final two holes relegated her to third place.
Seher Atwal endured a challenging back nine, marked by four bogeys on a tough scoring day. Another amateur, Saanvi Somu from Bengaluru, shot 1-over 71, tying for fourth place with Atwal.
The 2023 Hero Order of Merit winner, Sneha Singh, started the day with a disastrous run, registering four bogeys in her first seven holes. Despite a birdie and a further bogey, she finished sixth at 6-over 216. Gaurika Bishnoi, the previous week’s winner, also faced difficulties on the closing holes, finishing with two bogeys for a score of 70 and tied seventh with Snigdha Goswami.
Four players, Amandeep Drall, Jahaanvie Walia, Agrima Manral and Rhea Jha, tied for ninth place. The leader Hitaashee Bakshi, who finished 14th, maintained her lead on the Hero Order of Merit.
