Anxious Parents: We Need Help Too

As a parent of high school seniors, I’ve seen firsthand the anxiety that can consume parents during this time. From school shootings to the rising cost of college, there are countless factors that can keep us up at night. And yet, despite the endless criticism and conflicting information we receive, parents are often blamed for our children’s perceived problems.

It’s time to acknowledge that parents are not the only ones who need help during this transition. We are facing a multitude of challenges, and we need support and resources too. We need to be able to talk about our anxieties without being judged or labeled as neurotic or overprotective.

We need to be able to access affordable childcare and other resources that can help us balance our work and family responsibilities. And we need to know that we are not alone in this journey. There are other parents who are going through the same thing, and we can support each other.

If you are a parent of a high school senior, please know that you are not alone. There are other parents who understand what you are going through. And there are resources available to help you. Don’t hesitate to reach out for help if you need it. You are not a helicopter parent. You are simply a parent who is trying to do their best in a very challenging world.
