APiJET, LLC, a leading innovator in aviation technology, has been awarded a significant $4.5 million grant from the Biden-Harris administration. The grant, part of the Fueling Aviation’s Sustainable Transition (FAST) program, will enable APiJET to further develop and implement its Digital WingletsTM flight route optimization software. This technology is designed to significantly improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions in the aviation industry, contributing to the broader goal of sustainable air travel.
The FAST-Tech initiative, spearheaded by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), is focused on developing and implementing low-emission aviation technologies. By investing in innovative solutions like APiJET’s Digital Winglets, the FAST program aims to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable future for air travel.
“This significant grant will enable APiJET, LLC to make our technology available to more aircraft types helping airlines achieve substantial fuel costs savings while contributing to the aviation industry’s broader sustainability goals,” states Rob Green, CEO of APiJET. Green further emphasizes the importance of this technology for airlines facing increasing pressure to reduce their environmental footprint: “As airlines continue to face mounting pressure to reduce their environmental footprint, our technology provides a crucial solution by optimizing flight paths in real time, resulting in substantial fuel burn and emissions reductions.”
This announcement is particularly relevant to airline executives, CFOs, and sustainability officers seeking innovative ways to improve operational efficiency while meeting sustainability mandates. Green underscores this point, stating, “The airline industry is committed to reducing their environmental footprint while meeting financial targets, and our technology provides a crucial technology in support of the industry’s goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions as outlined by the U.S. Aviation Climate Action Plan.”
With this grant, APiJET plans to expand the aircraft type coverage for Digital Winglets, further enhancing their aircraft performance and airframe degradation models. This will maximize fuel savings and reduce emissions even further, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future for the aviation industry. The FAST Grant Program is funded by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, demonstrating the government’s commitment to supporting innovative technologies that address climate change.
