Apple has officially sent out invitations to a special event scheduled for May 7th at 7AM PT / 10AM ET. The event, set to be a virtual affair, is widely anticipated to center around the launch of new iPad models.
The invitation features an image of the Apple Pencil, strongly suggesting that iPads will indeed be the stars of the show. Rumors have been circulating for some time regarding significant upgrades for the iPad Pro lineup, including an impressive OLED display, a performance boost with the new M3 chipset, and a long-awaited horizontal repositioning of the front-facing camera.
In addition to these upgrades, it is also possible that a new Apple Pencil and an updated iPad Air with an aluminum build and an expanded trackpad will be unveiled at the event. The dwindling inventory of the current iPad Air at Apple retail stores, as reported by Mark Gurman, further supports the likelihood of an imminent model refresh.
Apple’s May 7th event will bring an end to an extended period without the release of new iPad models. The company is also expected to showcase new operating systems, including iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS 14, as well as potentially other hardware announcements. Keep checking back for all the latest news, updates, and insights from the event.
