Apple’s much-awaited AI features, initially slated for the public beta of iOS 18, are experiencing a delay. According to renowned Apple insider Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the Cupertino-based tech giant will be releasing the Apple Intelligence software updates several weeks after the launch of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequia. This means the new iPhone 16 lineup will not feature the anticipated AI-powered functionalities at launch.
However, software developers will gain early access to the new Apple Intelligence features through the initial beta releases of iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 as early as next week. Gurman reveals that the decision to postpone the AI features stems from a desire to provide Apple developers ample time to eliminate any potential bugs. The software update incorporating the AI features is scheduled for release in October.
While the rollout of Apple Intelligence is set for October, it won’t arrive in its entirety immediately. Instead, the features will be progressively integrated into devices over the course of the coming year. Sources familiar with the matter, who requested anonymity, confirmed to Gurman that this phased approach is designed to ensure a seamless and robust AI experience for users.
