Apple’s latest operating system, tvOS 18, will bring some new features to Apple TV, but unfortunately, Apple Intelligence will not be one of them. At least not at first.
Apple Intelligence is a new personal intelligence system that combines the power of generative models with personal context to deliver intelligence that’s incredibly useful and relevant. It will be available this fall on the newest Apple devices, including the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPad Pro M1 and newer, iPad Air M1 and newer, MacBook Air M1 and newer, MacBook Pro M1 and newer, iMac M1 and newer, Mac mini M1 and newer, Mac Studio M1 Max and newer, and Mac Pro M2 Ultra.
There could be any number of reasons why Apple TV has been left off the list of devices that will support Apple Intelligence. One possibility is that the A15 Bionic chip in the latest Apple TV 4K is simply not powerful enough to run the new software. Another possibility is that Apple is planning to release new Apple TV hardware in the near future that will be better equipped to handle Apple Intelligence.
Whatever the reason, it’s a bit disappointing that Apple TV will not be getting Apple Intelligence at launch. Siri integration is one of the most useful features of Apple TV, and Apple Intelligence could have made it even better. However, it’s still early days for Apple Intelligence, and it’s possible that it will be added to Apple TV in a future update.
In the meantime, there are still plenty of other new features to look forward to in tvOS 18, including support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, a new Control Center, and a redesigned App Store. So, even though Apple TV won’t be getting Apple Intelligence right away, there’s still plenty to be excited about in the new operating system.
