The much-anticipated Apple iPhone 16 series has arrived in India, with long queues forming outside the country’s first Apple store in Mumbai’s BKC on the launch day. The excitement surrounding the new series is palpable, with customers eager to get their hands on the latest iPhone technology.
This year marks a significant milestone for Apple in India, as the company plans to start assembling the iPhone Pro series locally for the first time. While the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models are available now, the Pro models will be released later. Apple has announced that the iPhone 16 Pro will start at ₹ 1,19,900 and the iPhone 16 Pro Max will start at ₹ 1,44,900.
The new iPhone 16 series boasts several compelling features. The Pro models will be powered by the A18 Pro chip, which features a 6-core GPU designed to enhance the device’s artificial intelligence capabilities. Apple claims the A18 Pro chip is up to 20% faster than its predecessor, with a 6-core CPU that can handle workloads 15% more efficiently. The standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models will feature the A18 chip, which boasts a 6-core CPU that is 30% faster than the A16 Bionic chip, outperforming all competitors. These models also feature a 5-core GPU, which is up to 40% faster and 35% more efficient than the A16 Bionic.
Another notable feature is the introduction of the US English version of Apple Intelligence on the iPhone 16 series devices, which will be rolled out next month through a software update. This feature empowers users to rewrite, proofread, and summarize text. The Notes and Phone apps now support audio recording, transcription, and summarization using Apple Intelligence. During a call in the Phone app, all participants will be automatically notified when recording starts, and Apple Intelligence will provide a summary highlighting key points.
The iPhone 16 Pro series also features larger displays than previous models, with the iPhone 16 Pro sporting a 6.3-inch screen and the iPhone 16 Pro Max offering a 6.9-inch display. Storage options for the Pro models range from 128GB to 1TB. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage capacities.
The iPhone 16 series launch signifies Apple’s continued commitment to the Indian market. The local assembly of the Pro models is a testament to Apple’s confidence in India’s growing technological landscape. The launch has generated significant buzz, with fans eagerly anticipating the arrival of the latest iPhone innovations.
