Apple may be launching its iPhone 16 series today, but rumors are already swirling about the next generation of iPhones – the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air. Display analyst Ross Young of DSCC, speaking with MacRumors, has hinted that these upcoming models will feature a significant upgrade: 120Hz ProMotion displays.
This means smoother scrolling, a more responsive user experience, and a generally more fluid interface. Currently, the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models sport 60Hz displays, which might feel dated in 2024 as competitors boast 120Hz displays. Apple’s adoption of 120Hz technology on the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air could be a major sales driver, especially considering the lack of hype surrounding the iPhone 16 series this year.
The ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air is already generating significant buzz, and with the addition of a 120Hz display, it could be a significant hit for Apple. The rumor mill is also suggesting that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models could feature an even more advanced display – perhaps a 240Hz ProMotion Plus screen.
We’re expecting the official unveiling of the iPhone 17 family, including the new iPhone 17 Air, in September 2025. The next twelve months will undoubtedly be filled with more leaks and rumors about these highly anticipated devices. Stay tuned!
