Apple’s Spring Hardware Event Announced for May 7, 2024
Apple has officially announced its first hardware event of 2024, scheduled to take place on May 7th. The event, which will be held under the tagline “Let Loose,” is expected to heavily focus on new iPad models, according to numerous reports and rumors.
iPad Pro and iPad Air Updates Expected
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple plans to unveil refreshed models for both the iPad Pro and iPad Air during the second week of May. The iPad Pro is rumored to feature an OLED display, a significant upgrade from the current LCD panels. The iPad Air, on the other hand, may come in two different sizes, providing users with more options to choose from.
Accessory Updates Possible
Beyond new iPad announcements, Apple could also announce updates to its related accessories, such as the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil. The company recently updated the Apple Pencil, adding USB-C support, but it was met with some criticism due to its hefty price tag of $79 and lack of support for wireless pairing or charging.
Spring Event Replaces March Event
This event marks a departure from Apple’s previous spring event schedule. In 2022, the company held its first spring event in early March, where it unveiled the M1-powered iPad Air, third-generation iPhone SE, and first-generation Mac Studio.
It remains to be seen what other announcements Apple has in store for its May 7th event. The company typically keeps its event details under wraps, so we can expect more information to emerge closer to the date.
