Aqara, a prominent player in the smart home arena, is expanding its product portfolio with a slew of new devices unveiled at IFA 2024. A key theme running through these new releases is support for Matter, the emerging smart home standard, ensuring seamless integration with other compatible devices.
One standout product is the Camera Hub G5 Pro, Aqara’s first security camera designed specifically for outdoor use. Its 4MP camera boasts color night vision and utilizes onboard AI to differentiate between people, pets, vehicles, and packages, leading to more accurate motion detection notifications. With its weatherproof rating, the Camera Hub G5 Pro offers peace of mind and reliable performance in any outdoor setting.
Aqara also introduced the Garage Door Controller T2 Kit, bringing Matter compatibility to the often-overlooked realm of garage door control. This kit supports two sectional garage doors, providing a welcome addition to the relatively limited smart garage controller market.
Further bolstering Aqara’s smart home ecosystem are the Aqara Valve Controller T1, capable of detecting leaks and automatically shutting off water or gas lines, and the Aqara Smoke Detector, boasting an impressive 10-year battery life. A variety of smart wall switches and light bulbs are also part of the new lineup.
In terms of Matter integration, Aqara’s Hub M3 is gaining a feature known as Advanced Matter Bridging. This allows users to synchronize their “IF” and “THEN” conditions in the Aqara Home app with other Matter-compatible apps, enabling more sophisticated routines and ensuring seamless interoperability across the entire smart home network.
Expect to see detailed pricing and availability information for these new Aqara devices in the near future.
