Arabian Travel Market 2024 Sets Record-Breaking Attendance

The 31st Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, UAE, concluded with a significant milestone, showcasing robust growth in the international travel and tourism industry. With over 46,000 participants from more than 160 nations, including 33,500 visitors, this year’s attendance surged by an impressive 15% compared to last year’s anniversary edition.

Reflecting the theme of ‘Empowering Innovation: Transforming Travel Through Entrepreneurship,’ the event attracted over 2,600 exhibitors at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). Participants engaged in discussions about the catalysts for growth in the sector and pinpointed upcoming opportunities in global tourism.

The event was graced by the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, who led a council meeting during the market. Notable transport and tourism initiatives were approved under the guidance of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.

Opening the event, policymakers from the Gulf region detailed efforts to enhance the GCC’s tourism capabilities. Following introductory remarks by H.E. Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, the discussion featured insights from key figures such as H.E. Khalid Jasim Al Midfa and H.E. Fahd Hamidaddin, among others.

A significant focus was placed on the potential of Indian tourists during a session titled ‘Unlocking the True Potential of Indian Travellers.’ Insights into market assessments, distribution strategies, and future trends were shared by Virendra Jain, CEO and Co-Founder of VIDEC.

Innovation in aviation was also a topic of discussion in the session ‘Looking Skyward for Innovation: How Technology is Disrupting Aviation.’ Moderated by Mark Frary, the dialogue included experts from Cirium, IATA, AviationXLab, and Riyadh Air, who predicted transformative shifts in air travel.

ATM 2024 also witnessed the UK-based InterLnkd winning the third ATM Start-up Pitch Battle, demonstrating innovation in linking the travel, hospitality, and retail sectors through data and technology. The ‘Best Stand Design Award (over 150m2)’ was presented to Experience Abu Dhabi, recognized for its innovative design and effective use of space. Other notable mentions include AlUla, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, and Saudi Tourism Authority for their outstanding exhibition stands.

In partnership with Dubai World Trade Centre, ATM 2024’s strategic partners included the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, Emirates, IHG Hotels & Resorts, and Al Rais Travel. Next year’s Arabian Travel Market is scheduled from April 28 to May 1, promising another showcase of industry trends and innovations.
