The Arabian Travel Market (ATM) is poised to shine a spotlight on the pivotal role of connectivity in shaping the future of tourism when it returns to the Dubai World Trade Centre from April 28 to May 1, 2025. Under the theme “Global Travel: Shaping Tomorrow’s Tourism with Enhanced Connectivity,” the event will delve into how seamless connections between industries, borders, and communities are driving a revolution in global travel.
As the travel and tourism sector experiences unprecedented growth, ATM 2025 will serve as a hub for leading professionals from the leisure, MICE, luxury, and corporate travel sectors. This gathering will foster an atmosphere of networking, knowledge exchange, and business development, offering participants the opportunity to uncover the latest trends, innovations, and global advancements within the industry. The event will be a platform for international experts to collaborate, fostering cross-border partnerships and creative solutions to the challenges and opportunities facing the tourism sector.
ATM consistently focuses on key areas that shape the future of travel, and this year’s edition will delve deeper into the transformative power of connectivity within the sector. Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director ME, Arabian Travel Market, commented on the theme, stating, “Connectivity extends beyond technology. It also involves creating communities that serve as important centres for trade and tourism. By working together and embracing innovation and better connectivity, ATM is paving the way for the future of travel. This ensures that tourism in the coming years is more sustainable, inclusive, and closely linked with global economic growth.”
Dubai’s flourishing tourism numbers further underscore the city’s position as a prominent player in the global travel landscape. The Dubai Media Office reported that 9.31 million international visitors stayed overnight in the first half of 2024, marking a 9% increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). This growth aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to double the city’s economy within a decade and solidify its standing as a top global hub for business and tourism. A key component of this agenda is fostering a competitive business environment, reducing operational costs, and increasing foreign investment, all of which contribute to Dubai’s allure as a destination. Additionally, the UAE’s leadership in smart city initiatives is further enhancing urban living and tourism, integrating cutting-edge technology while reducing environmental impact. Dubai’s appeal as a premier destination, renowned for its iconic attractions, world-class hospitality, and strong global partnerships, continues to draw millions of visitors, cementing its position as a leading tourism hub with a significant economic impact.
Globally, the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) projects an impressive year for the industry, with an economic contribution expected to reach USD 11.1 trillion. The WTTC also forecasts that the sector will support 348 million jobs worldwide, expanding to 449 million over the next decade. Curtis added: “These figures underscore the increasing economic influence of travel and tourism and signify strong industry recovery and growth. In the coming years, connectivity, global collaboration and the increase in sustainable travel practices are expected to shape the industry’s trajectory. Topics that will be high on the agenda at ATM 2025.”
ATM 2024 saw an impressive turnout, with over 47,000 attendees from 161 countries, reflecting a 17.7% increase compared to the previous year. The event featured a comprehensive conference program led by global and regional experts across its Global and Future stages. ATM 2025 is set to build on this success, with strategic partners including Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), Emirates as the Official Airline Partner, IHG Hotels & Resorts as the Official Hotel Partner, and Al Rais Travel as the Official Destination Management Company (DMC) Partner.
