Police in Armenia’s northeastern Tavush Province have forcibly pushed protesters and their cars off a road they had been blockading since late on 19 April.
The protesters were blocking the road in protest of the government’s handling of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The conflict, which has been ongoing for decades, has recently flared up again, with both sides accusing the other of ceasefire violations.
The Armenian government has been criticized for its handling of the conflict, with many protesters accusing it of being too soft on Azerbaijan. The government has denied these accusations, saying that it is committed to a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
The roadblock had caused significant disruption to traffic in the area, and police moved to clear it after several days. The protesters were reportedly forcibly removed and their cars were towed away.
There were no reports of any injuries during the operation.
