Arne Slot has emerged as the latest candidate to be linked with the Liverpool managerial job following Jurgen Klopp’s announcement that he will depart the club at the end of the season. The Dutchman has impressed during his time at Feyenoord, winning the Eredivisie title and KNVB Cup. Slot has developed a reputation for playing attractive, attacking football, and his success at Feyenoord has caught the attention of Liverpool’s hierarchy.
One player who has thrived under Slot’s management is midfielder Teun Koopmeiners. The 26-year-old has scored 21 goals in 58 games under Slot’s leadership, and he has also captained the side. Koopmeiners is a versatile player who can operate in a variety of midfield roles, and he would provide Liverpool with some much-needed creativity and goals from midfield.
If Slot is appointed as Liverpool’s manager, it is likely that he would bring Koopmeiners with him to Anfield. The two have a strong relationship, and Koopmeiners would be a valuable asset to Slot’s team. The Dutchman has a proven track record of success, and he would be a good fit for Liverpool.
Slot has spent a lengthy career playing in the Eredivisie for a number of clubs, though it has been management where he has made his name. Becoming manager of AZ Alkmaar back in July 2019, he led the club to a joint-first finish in the Dutch top-flight by the time Covid-19 came around, and whilst they weren’t awarded the title, it was clear to see that Slot’s managerial talents were set to blossom.
94 wins in just 146 games in all competitions has seen the Rotterdam outfit crowned as Eredivisie winners, alongside winning this season’s KNVB Cup and finishing as Europa Conference League runners-up in his first campaign at the club; which has brought interest from all across Europe.
