Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone: The Rivalry That Turned Into Friendship

### Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone: From Rivalry to Friendship

Sylvester Stallone has recalled how his feud with Arnold Schwarzenegger began at the 1977 Golden Globe Awards. That year, Stallone was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his role in Rocky, while Schwarzenegger was nominated for New Star of the Year – Actor for his role in Stay Hungry.

Stallone remembers confronting Schwarzenegger at the event, leading to a decade-long rivalry. The rivalry continued into the 1980s, with each actor trying to outdo the other in terms of physique, action sequences, and weaponry.

However, in the early 1990s, Schwarzenegger and Stallone settled their differences after becoming investors in the Planet Hollywood restaurant chain. They became close friends and have since praised each other’s achievements.

The former rivals have co-starred in four films, including The Expendables franchise and Escape Plan. Their feud is revisited in the upcoming documentary Arnold & Sly: Rivals, Friends, Icons, which premieres on April 23, 2024.
