In an exclusive conversation with Sylvester Stallone for ‘TMZ Presents: Arnold & Sly: Rivals, Friends, Icons,’ Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed his tactic for securing box office success for his action movies in the 1980s and 1990s: convincing Stallone to headline a movie he knew would not be relatively successful.
Schwarzenegger explained how he and his agent worked together on a plan to convince Stallone to star in the 1992 comedy-action film ‘Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.’ They convinced Stallone’s agent that Schwarzenegger loved the script and found it fantastic, despite knowing that the movie was likely to flop.
Schwarzenegger admitted that the plan was to have Stallone sign on for the aforementioned movie, over which they had a correct hunch of how the movie would flop at the box office. The movie eventually flopped, but Schwarzenegger’s strategy proved to be successful in the long run, as it helped him secure box office success for his own action movies.
