Arrest Made After Violent Richmond Hill Currency Exchange Robbery

A search warrant execution and subsequent arrest were made in connection with a gunpoint robbery that occurred at a Richmond Hill currency exchange business last month.

York Regional Police stated that the incident took place on March 15th in the area of Yonge Street and Major Mackenzie Drive. Three suspects entered the establishment, with at least one armed with a gun. The victim, a male, was assaulted before the suspects fled with merchandise.

The victim received medical attention and was later released from the hospital. A search warrant was executed at an Ajax home last Wednesday, leading to the arrest of a man. Police recovered cocaine, fentanyl, ammunition, and an extended magazine for a firearm during the search.

A 21-year-old Ajax resident was charged with various offenses, including failing to comply with an undertaking. Two suspects remain at large. They are described as men around 30 years old, with average builds, between five feet seven inches and six feet tall. All suspects were reportedly wearing hooded sweaters, dark pants, and face masks.

Anyone with information or footage related to the robbery is urged to contact the police or Crime Stoppers.
