Arrests Made at New York City Protest Encampment

Hundreds of students and faculty members created a “Gaza Solidarity Encampment” in Gould Plaza at New York University early in the morning and organized a Pro-Palestine protest. This action followed similar protests by students at Columbia University and other schools across the US.

Video at the scene showed dozens of people in cuffs escorted away by the New York City Police Department. The remaining protesters reportedly formed a circle around the tents to prevent the NYPD from taking down the encampment.

Another video shows protestors standing in an intersection to stop an NYPD bus from moving. The bus is said to have been carrying arrested protestors.

The NYPD has not yet provided a comment on this story.
