Mikel Arteta has expressed his excitement about Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League title after their emphatic 5-0 victory over Chelsea on Tuesday. The Gunners moved three points clear at the top of the table with the crushing win, with goals from Leandro Trossard, Ben White, and Kai Havertz (2).
Arteta praised his team’s performance, particularly that of Havertz, who scored twice against his former club.
‘He (Havertz) was unbelievable, in all departments,’ said Arteta. ‘For a nine to score two goals the way he scored, his contribution was great.’
The Arsenal boss also emphasized the importance of instilling belief in his players and demanding more from them as they prepare for crucial matches against Tottenham and Everton.
‘What I would like is that they can manage themselves in the dressing room, they know what we are playing for, they are so excited for it and they are so at it,’ Arteta told TNT Sports.
‘My role is to keep demanding them, challenging them and in the moment making them believe they can do it because I think that’s a very important thing as well.
‘We have a lot of games coming up, let’s enjoy tonight and let’s go back to work.’
Arsenal will next be in action on Sunday when they face Tottenham in the North London derby. Arteta’s side will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the table and take a significant step towards securing their first Premier League title since 2004.
