Arsenal’s talented winger, Bukayo Saka, was forced to leave the field with a concerning leg injury during England’s disappointing 2-1 loss to Greece on Thursday. The incident occurred in the 51st minute at Wembley Stadium, just moments before Greece scored their opening goal.
Saka was seen visibly distressed, clutching the back of his right leg and stretching it. This came after a period of discomfort that was evident even before Greece’s goal. England’s interim manager, Lee Carsley, confirmed that Saka was undergoing an assessment and would be monitored closely.
Carsley acknowledged the concerning nature of the injury, stating, “In the build-up to the first goal, you could see he felt something in his leg.”
This injury adds to the growing list of concerns for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. Just last month, Arsenal lost their captain, Martin Odegaard, to injury during the previous international break. Saka’s absence, should it prove to be significant, would be a major blow for the Gunners, who have relied heavily on his creativity and goal-scoring ability this season.
Saka has been in superb form, showcasing his talent with three goals and seven assists in just 10 matches across all competitions this season. His absence would undoubtedly be felt by both Arsenal and England as they prepare for important matches in the coming weeks.
