Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes Chelsea’s new owners, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, will eventually lead the Blues to success.
Despite investing over a billion pounds since their takeover, Chelsea has yet to win a trophy and is set to miss out on Champions League qualification. However, Arteta points to Chelsea’s spending and the presence of manager Mauricio Pochettino as reasons for his optimism.
“I am convinced they will [be a success],” said Arteta. “With that squad, yes. And with the manager they have.”
A win for Arsenal on Tuesday would take them four points clear at the top of the Premier League, although Manchester City would have two games in hand. Arteta is expecting a tough game against Chelsea and has praised Pochettino for the “huge improvements” made under the ex-Tottenham coach in recent weeks.
“They deserve to be in a much higher position in the league when you look at what they have done and what they produce in games,” he said.
“They have a reached a final, they have reached a semi-final, they could have gone through. I think what Mauricio is doing is really impressive and I’m sure that he is going to get them there.”
