Aruba Airport Authority (AAA) is proud to announce that Queen Beatrix International Airport has received the inaugural ACI-LAC Green Airport Recognition, a prestigious honor that celebrates exceptional leadership in sustainability. The award, granted by the Airport Council International (ACI), recognizes airports that have demonstrated outstanding achievements in environmental initiatives. AAA’s Director of Health and Sustainability, Angeline Flemming, proudly accepted the award on behalf of the Airport Authority and the entire airport community.
The ACI-LAC Green Airport Recognition program, established by ACI, focuses on promoting environmental best practices within the Latin American and Caribbean region. In 2024, ACI-LAC encouraged airports to submit projects showcasing their commitment to the Circular Economy, a key pillar of sustainable development. This category emphasizes efforts to optimize water and energy use, extend the life cycle of materials and products, and minimize waste generation.
Aruba Airport’s dedication to sustainability is deeply ingrained in its operations, with sustainable principles woven throughout three key areas: sustainable aviation, sustainable operations, and a sustainable airport community.
