In a bid to combat the ongoing heatwave, the Assam government has announced changes to school timings in the Dibrugarh district. Effective Saturday, September 21st, all government and private schools in the area will follow adjusted schedules. The decision was made in consultation with the District Commissioner, Dibrugarh, and is intended to protect students from the adverse effects of the extreme heat.
The order, signed by the Inspector of Schools cum District Elementary Education Officer, Dibrugarh, outlines specific guidelines for schools to follow until further notice. These include:

Schools can start earlier and end accordingly, with classes beginning as early as 8:00 AM.2.
Indoor Assemblies:
School assemblies should be held inside classrooms, and the duration can be reduced.3.
Comfortable Attire:
Students are advised to avoid wearing waistcoats or ties and can opt for sandals if they find shoes uncomfortable.4.
Ventilation and Cooling:
Schools are responsible for ensuring all fans are functional and classrooms are adequately ventilated.
