Atalanta’s highly anticipated Serie A clash against Como has been postponed due to a deluge of rain that left the pitch in an unplayable condition.
The match, originally scheduled for Monday, was called off after a pre-game inspection revealed large puddles and a waterlogged surface. The match referee and captains of both teams agreed that the conditions were unsafe for play.
Serie A officials confirmed the postponement, announcing that the game will now be played on Tuesday at 1845GMT.
This postponement comes at a crucial time for Atalanta, who are seeking to climb the Serie A table. The Bergamo side, having finished fourth last season and champions of the Europa League, have experienced a mixed start to the new campaign with two wins and two defeats. Their most recent outing saw them held to a goalless draw at home against Arsenal in their Champions League opener.
