The Atlanta Braves secured a sweep of their three-game series against the visiting Miami Marlins on Wednesday with a 4-3 victory in 10 innings. Michael Harris II emerged as the hero, driving in the winning run with a double in the bottom of the 10th inning.
Trailing 3-2 heading into the ninth inning, the Marlins staged a comeback against Atlanta closer Raisel Iglesias. Singles loaded the bases before Josh Bell’s hard-hit grounder deflected off the chest of Braves first baseman Matt Olson and into the camera well, resulting in an error that allowed two runs to score. Iglesias was charged with his first blown save of the season.
Not to be outdone, the Braves had an opportunity to walk off in the bottom of the ninth with runners on first and second and one out. However, Ronald Acuña Jr. grounded into a double play, the fourth turned by the Marlins in the game.
The Braves had taken an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. Acuña scored on a balk after Miami pitcher Sixto Sanchez faked a throw to second base, and Marcell Ozuna added an RBI single. The Marlins broke their 21-inning scoreless streak in the second inning with a solo homer by Jesus Sanchez, his second of the series. Atlanta regained the lead in the third when Olson snapped an 0-for-25 skid with a double and scored on Ozuna’s single.
Reynaldo Lopez made another impressive start for the Braves, allowing just one run on three hits over seven innings, while Sanchez lasted only 2 2/3 innings for the Marlins, giving up three runs on five hits. A.J. Minter earned the win for Atlanta after pitching a scoreless top of the 10th inning.
