Atlantis Dubai Celebrates World Oceans Day by Doubling Conservation Donations

In celebration of World Oceans Day on June 8th, Atlantis Dubai proudly announces the third anniversary of its groundbreaking Atlantis Atlas Project, a testament to its unwavering commitment to marine conservation. This year, the resort is delighted to showcase its collaborative efforts with Seafood Souq, a visionary partnership that has resulted in the region’s first transparent seafood supply chain.

Through the innovative SFS Trace technology, Atlantis Dubai has established a comprehensive traceability system that meticulously tracks seafood from its origin to the plate, ensuring guest confidence in the responsible sourcing of their seafood. The digital impact dashboard provides detailed insights, empowering the resort to make informed decisions on selecting suppliers with the most stringent environmental standards.

The progress achieved is truly remarkable. As of March 2024, Atlantis Dubai has achieved an impressive 90% traceability for seafood items. The unwavering goal is to achieve 100% traceability by December 2024, further strengthening the resort’s commitment to full transparency and ethical procurement.

In alignment with Dubai’s sustainable tourism targets and the UAE’s global commitments, Atlantis Dubai’s partnership with Seafood Souq is a beacon of innovation. This exceptional initiative not only enhances food safety but also fosters the protection of our oceans. Fahim Al Qasimi, Co-Founder and Executive Chairperson of Seafood Souq, expressed his pride in the collaborative efforts: “This pioneering initiative is a testament to the shared values of sustainability between Atlantis and Seafood Souq. As a UAE technology company, we are honored to contribute our expertise to this significant regional and global impact.”

Over the past year, Atlantis Dubai has embarked on a multitude of environmental initiatives under the umbrella of the Atlantis Atlas Project. These initiatives have yielded substantial ecological benefits, further solidifying the resort’s dedication to responsible operations.

Kelly Timmins, Director of Marine Animal Operations and Sustainability at Atlantis Dubai, emphasized the paramount importance of marine conservation: “Our resort houses 65,000 marine animals, making it imperative for us to prioritize their well-being through comprehensive conservation efforts. The SFS Trace system, developed in collaboration with Seafood Souq, is a significant step forward in our sustainable seafood journey, allowing us to make responsible choices and continuously improve our practices.”

To commemorate the anniversary of the Atlantis Atlas Project, Atlantis Dubai is doubling its usual $1 USD contribution for every marine animal interaction experienced by guests on World Oceans Day and the following day. This increased donation will fuel future initiatives dedicated to making a profound impact on conservation, education, and societal benefits. Atlantis Dubai’s unwavering commitment to sustainability sets an inspiring example, encouraging other organizations to embrace responsible practices for a brighter future for our planet.
