Reporting directly to Philippe Zuber, CEO of Kerzner International, Baker will manage the entire spectrum of operations, strategic direction, and continued growth of Atlantis Resorts. This encompasses everything from day-to-day operations and long-term strategic planning for the Dubai properties to overseeing the launch and expansion of Atlantis Sanya, a luxury resort on Hainan Island, China.

Baker brings nearly 20 years of international experience in the hospitality and entertainment industries, making him a perfect fit to lead Atlantis Resorts into its next phase of growth. His career highlights include extensive leadership roles across key global markets such as Las Vegas, USA; Malaysia; and Macau, China, each recognized as major hubs in the hospitality industry.

Prior to joining Atlantis Resorts, Baker served as President of Grand Lisboa Palace in Macau, leading the successful opening of the 1,892-room luxury integrated resort. He navigated the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring the resort’s smooth operation, a major achievement in the hospitality sector.

Before his time at Grand Lisboa Palace, Baker held the position of Deputy Chief Operating Officer at Genting Malaysia Berhad, managing the world’s largest integrated luxury resort. His responsibilities spanned an incredible portfolio of 10,000 hotel rooms, 200 F&B outlets, a theme park, retail spaces, and a golf course.

Baker’s exceptional operational expertise and ability to manage large-scale projects in different cultural landscapes have earned him a distinguished reputation in the hospitality industry. His appointment signals an exciting new era for Atlantis Resorts. His strategic insights and experience in international markets align perfectly with Atlantis’ vision to remain a leader in luxury hospitality.

Philippe Zuber, CEO of Kerzner International, expressed his enthusiasm for Baker joining the team, emphasizing the vital role he will play in expanding Atlantis’ global reach. This leadership transition comes at a pivotal time for the brand, with Atlantis The Royal entering its second year after a highly successful debut. The resort has quickly become known for its ultra-luxury offerings, providing guests with unparalleled experiences. Additionally, Atlantis, The Palm continues to break records, achieving its highest-ever revenue in the first half of 2024, signaling a bright future under Baker’s leadership.

Baker will also play a key role in the future of Atlantis Sanya. Sanya, located on China’s picturesque Hainan Island, is an emerging destination for both domestic and international travelers, and Atlantis Sanya has positioned itself as a key player in China’s luxury resort market. Baker’s expertise in managing international resorts will be critical in ensuring the continued success and expansion of this property.

Paul Baker’s impressive credentials extend beyond his career in hospitality. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science in Philosophy, followed by service in the United States Army, where he was part of the elite 101st Airborne Division based in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. After his military service, Baker pursued higher education at Harvard University, earning a Master of Business Administration. His background in leadership, coupled with his academic achievements, has equipped him with the tools to succeed in high-pressure, dynamic environments.

Paul Baker’s appointment as President of Atlantis Resorts marks a new chapter of leadership for the company.
