Atletico Madrid has reached an agreement with Real Sociedad for the transfer of Spanish centre-back Robin Le Normand. The news was confirmed by both LaLiga clubs on Saturday. Although neither side disclosed the financial terms, Spanish media reported that the deal will be worth around €30 million (USD 32.57 million) plus potential add-ons. The length of the 27-year-old’s contract with Atletico has not yet been revealed.
In an official statement, Atletico Madrid expressed: “Atletico and Sociedad have reached an agreement for the transfer of Le Normand. The deal will be finalised in the coming days when the player returns from his holiday.” Le Normand, who was born in France, began his professional career with Ligue 1 side Brest. He joined Real Sociedad in 2016 and has since established himself as a key player, making 221 appearances for the club’s first team. His contributions helped Sociedad win the Copa del Rey in the 2019-20 season.
Real Sociedad acknowledged Le Normand’s departure on social media platform X, stating: “We’ll always remember his dedication and gratitude to the colours that have shaped him into the player he is today. Good luck.” Le Normand has also represented Spain at the international level, earning 17 caps. He was part of the Spanish squad that triumphed at the 2024 European Championship. His move to Atletico Madrid marks a significant step in his career, as he joins a team known for its competitive nature and ambition in Spanish football.
