Aurora Central Catholic’s Amelia Lohrey: A Student Pilot with a Future in the Sky

Amelia Lohrey, the dedicated senior outfielder for Aurora Central Catholic, is a student athlete with extraordinary dreams that transcend the softball field. Her passion for flying has led her to pursue a student pilot certificate, with the ambitious goal of obtaining a private pilot’s license by the end of summer. This fall, Lohrey will soar to new heights, attending Prescott’s Embry-Riddle to study aeronautical science while continuing her softball career in the NAIA program.

On the softball field, Lohrey’s leadership shines as one of only two seniors on the team. Despite a recent setback against Oswego East, her unwavering determination and exceptional batting skills continue to inspire her teammates. With a consistent batting average of .390 and an impressive record of eight doubles, two triples, three home runs, and 22 RBIs, Lohrey has played a pivotal role in Aurora Central Catholic’s success this season.

Lohrey’s journey as a student pilot began with summer lessons at Aurora Airport in Sugar Grove. Her unwavering passion for flying has led her to solo flights, including a required 150-mile trip with stops in Wisconsin. Her parents, while supportive, admit to experiencing some nervousness, but they trust in her training and abilities.

As Aurora Central Catholic navigates its first season in the GCAC White, Lohrey’s exceptional leadership and offensive contributions have been instrumental. Her coach, Pasqualini, recognizes her as a valuable leader in the outfield, guiding her teammates with precision. Lohrey’s unwavering determination and pursuit of excellence both on and off the field make her a remarkable student athlete who is poised to achieve great heights in both her academic and athletic endeavors.
