Australians from all walks of life gathered at dawn services across the nation to honour the memory of Anzac soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. The dawn service at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra commenced at 4:30am, followed by a veterans’ march at 9:30am. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese paid his respects in Papua New Guinea, acknowledging the sacrifices made in conflicts both past and present. Defence Minister Richard Marles attended local ceremonies in Gallipoli, Türkiye, marking the 109th anniversary of the historic landings on April 25, 1915. Marles emphasized the extraordinary courage and camaraderie displayed by Anzac soldiers during the Gallipoli campaign. In Brisbane, the dawn service began at 4:28am at the Shrine of Remembrance in Anzac Square, followed by a parade on Adelaide Street. Adelaide’s dawn service took place at the Cenotaph in Hyde Park, Martin Place, at 4:23am, with a march along Elizabeth Street to Liverpool Street. A flyover was scheduled for around 9:30am. In Perth, the South Australian National War Memorial Service commenced at 5:30am, followed by a gunfire breakfast at Government House Gardens and a march at St Georges Terrace from 9am. Melbourne’s Shrine of Remembrance in South Yarra held its dawn service at 6am, featuring the Last Post and a minute of silence. A dawn service was held at the Cenotaph at the Esplanade, with a parade commencing at 9am. In Hobart, the dawn service took place at 6am at the Hobart Cenotaph, followed by the Queens Domain main parade at 11:00am along Elizabeth Street and the Hobart main service at 11:45am at the Queens Domain Cenotaph.
