Austrian Airlines is bolstering its winter flight schedule for the 2024/2025 season, focusing on expanding services between Vienna and Innsbruck, a popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts. Beginning in late October 2024 and continuing through March 2025, the Vienna-Innsbruck route will be serviced with up to three daily flights, offering increased flexibility for travelers.
Furthermore, Austrian Airlines is introducing new direct flight options from Innsbruck, catering to those seeking a winter getaway. From December to early March, weekly flights will operate from Innsbruck to Brussels, Copenhagen, and Warsaw. The Amsterdam route will also see an extension, with weekly flights continuing until the end of March.
In addition to these new routes, Austrian Airlines is catering to the growing demand for domestic ski tourism by offering charter flights from Innsbruck to Stockholm and Billund during the peak ski season. These flights provide convenient access to Tyrolean destinations, attracting skiers and snowboarders from across Europe.
Michael Trestl, CCO of Austrian Airlines, expressed his delight at the expanded flight program, highlighting its contribution to the Tyrolean economy. “With our expanded flight offer between Vienna and Innsbruck, we now provide our guests with greater flexibility and four direct tourist connections to Tyrol. We see ourselves as part of the Tyrolean economy, and our commitment is reflected in our flight program!”
Echoing this sentiment, Marco Pernetta, Managing Director of Innsbruck Airport, expressed enthusiasm for Austrian Airlines’ commitment to the region. “We are very pleased that Austrian Airlines is increasing frequencies on the crucial Vienna-Innsbruck route and adding new European routes on winter weekends, clearly demonstrating their commitment to Innsbruck as a location.”
To further strengthen connectivity, Lufthansa Airlines will maintain its route between Innsbruck and Frankfurt with 11 weekly flights, ensuring global access via the Frankfurt hub. The Lufthansa Express Bus service, introduced in summer 2024, will continue in winter, operating up to four daily trips to the Munich hub.
These comprehensive flight offerings from Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa create a robust network for travelers seeking to experience the beauty and excitement of the Tyrolean Alps during the winter months.
