Avelo Airlines Launches Nonstop Flights Between D.C. and New Haven, Expanding Travel Options

Avelo Airlines has launched nonstop flights between Washington, D.C.’s Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Southern Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN), enhancing travel convenience and connectivity. Avelo is pioneering this direct route, providing the first and only nonstop flights between IAD and HVN. This service will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, using Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. Tickets are available for booking on AveloAir.com.

Passengers on Avelo’s inaugural flight between IAD and HVN were welcomed with celebrations, including pizza from the renowned Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana of New Haven. They enjoyed the hospitality of Avelo Airlines Crewmembers on a nearly full flight. In May, a group of over 100 Connecticut pizza makers, veterans, and community leaders traveled to Washington, D.C., via Avelo. During this visit, U.S. Representative Rosa L. DeLauro honored New Haven as “The Pizza Capital of the United States” in a special ceremony at the United States Capitol.

Nestled on Connecticut’s coast, Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) offers a convenient entry point to the 15 towns that comprise Greater New Haven. Its proximity to major highways and commuter railways ensures easy access to both New England and New York regions. HVN presents a smooth and straightforward alternative to larger airports, making travel to Southern Connecticut faster, easier, and more enjoyable.
