Ayaneo Unveils Two Retro Handheld Consoles: Pocket DMG and Pocket Micro

Ayaneo, a company renowned for its wide array of handheld consoles, has unveiled two new retro-inspired devices: the Pocket DMG and the Pocket Micro. These handhelds, reminiscent of classic gaming consoles, offer a fresh take on Android gaming and emulation. The Pocket DMG, resembling a classic Game Boy in design, boasts a 3.92-inch OLED screen, a 6,000mAh battery, and a powerful Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 chip. This combination promises exceptional visual quality, extended battery life, and robust performance. Weighing just 9.8 ounces, the Pocket DMG is designed for ultimate portability and comfortable gaming sessions.

The Pocket DMG incorporates unique features tailored for Android gaming, including a miniature joystick and a touchpad that functions as a mouse. A wheel on the left side of the device offers volume control and additional actions, such as menu navigation, and can even be mapped for specific apps. The Pocket DMG is available in two standard colors: Moon White and Arctic Black. Additionally, a limited-edition Retro Color option echoes the aesthetic of the original Game Boy, complete with a similar screen design.

The Pocket Micro, as its name suggests, is a more compact and less powerful offering compared to the DMG. It features a 3.5-inch screen with a 960 by 640 resolution, significantly lower than the DMG’s display. Its battery capacity is also smaller, at 2,600mAh, resulting in shorter playtime. However, the Micro still boasts an aluminum alloy frame, ensuring durability and resistance to minor bumps. The Pocket Micro is available in Magic Black and Soul Red color options, alongside a limited-edition Retro Grey, inspired by the NES controller.

Both the Pocket DMG and Pocket Micro are currently available for pre-order on Indiegogo. The DMG is priced at $341 for early bird backers, rising to $449 at full price. The Micro, meanwhile, is offered at $190 for early birds, escalating to $250 at full price. The Micro is scheduled to start shipping in September, with the DMG following in late October. Both devices will be released in batches, so securing an early unit at the discounted price requires prompt action.
