Ayodhya, the holy city in Uttar Pradesh, is all set to host a monumental Diwali celebration in 2024, aiming to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest display of diyas. The event, known as Deepotsav, promises a spectacle of lights, cultural performances, and a massive aarti that will leave visitors mesmerized.
The Uttar Pradesh government has meticulously planned the event, striving to surpass the previous world record held by Ayodhya itself with 22 lakh 23 thousand diyas. This time, the organizers are aiming for a staggering 25 lakh diyas, creating a breathtaking vista of illumination.
The Deepotsav celebrations will kick off with a meticulous preparation process, commencing at 10 a.m. with volunteers, supervisors, and event coordinators diligently filling diyas with oil and wicks.
One of the key highlights of Deepotsav 2024 will be a grand aarti featuring over 1100 participants, adding a spiritual dimension to the celebration.
Adding to the festive ambiance, processions featuring 17-18 tableaux showcasing scenes from the Hindu epic Ramayana will be a major attraction. The event will also feature artists from six neighboring countries, including Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Indonesia, contributing to the diverse cultural tapestry of the celebration.
The organizers have planned a diverse lineup of cultural performances, showcasing traditional folk dance forms from different states. Expect vibrant performances of Faruahi (Gorakhpur), Bamrasiya (Rajasthan), Mayur (UP), Bahrupiya (WB), Awadhi (UP), and Tharu (Bihar), offering a glimpse into India’s rich cultural heritage.
A striking Swastika formation crafted using 80,000 diyas at Ghat No. 10 is set to be a visual masterpiece. This iconic symbol will serve as a prominent attraction for the Deepotsav, adding a spiritual and symbolic touch to the event.
A mesmerizing aerial drone show featuring 500 Indian-made drones will add a touch of modern spectacle to the traditional celebration. The drones will display vibrant visuals of Lord Ram, Lakshman, and Hanuman, creating breathtaking aerial artistry against the backdrop of illuminated Ayodhya. Laser light displays and voiceovers will enhance the visual and auditory experience.
The grand finale of Deepotsav 2024 will be a dazzling display of fireworks and rangoli, leaving the audience in awe. The event promises to be an unforgettable experience, combining tradition, culture, and grandeur, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking a truly unique Diwali celebration.
