Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has taken a significant step towards expanding its fleet and enhancing its passenger experience by signing a lease agreement with AerCap for six new Airbus aircraft. The deal, which was finalized in a signing ceremony, includes three A320neo and three A321neo aircraft, all equipped with CFM LEAP engines. These modern aircraft are scheduled for delivery in 2026.
This acquisition represents a strategic move for AZAL, aimed at modernizing its fleet with fuel-efficient and technologically advanced aircraft. Peter Anderson, Chief Commercial Officer of AerCap, expressed his company’s delight at welcoming AZAL as a new customer and supporting their ambitious growth plans. He highlighted the A320neo and A321neo as some of the most sought-after aircraft in the world, capable of serving more passengers across a wider network.
Samir Rzayev, President of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC, emphasized the importance of this fleet expansion, particularly with the popular A321neo aircraft. He stated that these new additions are designed to cater to the evolving needs of passengers, offering superior comfort and convenience.
