The Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) made a significant presence at the Luxury Travel Mart (LTM) Autumn edition, solidifying Azerbaijan’s position as a prime destination for Kazakhstani travelers. The event, held in September 2024 in Astana and Almaty, provided a platform for the ATB to engage with key players in the luxury travel market in the CIS region, fostering new partnerships and strengthening existing ones.
During LTM, the ATB interacted with 25 prominent tour operators and travel agencies, showcasing Azerbaijan’s diverse tourism offerings. The focus was on highlighting the country’s luxury ski resorts like Shahdag and Tufandag, the vibrant city experiences of Baku, wellness retreats, and thermal spas. Azerbaijan was also presented as an ideal destination for MICE tourism, upscale accommodations, and exclusive tours, underscoring the country’s ambitious plans to expand its presence in the Kazakhstani market.
Adding to the momentum, the ATB, in collaboration with Kompas Tour, the leading tour operator in Kazakhstan, organized a business breakfast seminar in Almaty on September 19th. This seminar, attended by 50 travel agents, provided a platform to delve deeper into Azerbaijan’s top tourist attractions, particularly emphasizing the upcoming ski season. This event provided valuable insights into the country’s extensive travel opportunities, ranging from cultural tours to winter sports, positioning Azerbaijan as an attractive option for Kazakhstani travelers.
The success of these initiatives is reflected in the impressive growth of tourist arrivals from Kazakhstan. In 2024, Azerbaijan witnessed a significant surge in Kazakhstani tourists, with the country welcoming 58,082 visitors between January and August. This represents a remarkable 64% increase compared to the same period in 2023, when the country welcomed 35,471 Kazakhstani tourists. This surge underscores the growing appeal of Azerbaijan as a destination for luxury tourism, winter sports, and cultural exploration.
The ATB remains committed to strengthening its ties with the Kazakhstani market and building upon the success of these recent events. The board is confident that the growing popularity of Azerbaijan amongst Kazakhstani tourists will continue, solidifying the country’s position as a leading destination for discerning travelers.
