Azerbaijan Shines at Wiener Reisebürotag, Showcasing Diverse Tourism Opportunities

On September 12th, the Azerbaijan Tourism Board took center stage at the 13th Wiener Reisebürotag, a prominent gathering of Viennese tour operators and travel agencies organized by the Austrian Economic Chambers (WKO). The event, held at Aux Gazelles in Vienna, saw Azerbaijan as the featured destination of the year, highlighting its vibrant culture and diverse tourism offerings to an audience of 150-180 industry professionals.

The event, aptly titled “Azerbaijan: Land of Eternal Fire,” provided a captivating glimpse into the country’s rich tapestry of experiences. The Azerbaijan Tourism Board, alongside Aviareps representing Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) and Elite Tours, showcased exclusive travel packages, emphasizing the country’s unique attractions and experiences.

The evening kicked off with welcoming remarks from Mag. Gregor Kadanka, Chairman of the Wiener Reisebürotag, and Florian Sengstschmid, CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, setting the stage for a dynamic networking session among key players in the international travel industry. The evening’s entertainment reached its peak with a captivating performance by renowned Azerbaijani pianist and composer Isfar Sarabski, adding a touch of cultural elegance to the proceedings.

Azerbaijan boasts a diverse range of attractions, from the cosmopolitan energy of Baku, with its UNESCO-listed Old City, to the breathtaking Caucasus Mountains, the serene shores of the Caspian Sea, and the rich heritage of the ancient Silk Road found in the historic town of Sheki.

For the modern traveler, Azerbaijan offers an array of world-class amenities, including luxurious hotels, exquisite dining experiences, and upscale shopping centers. A week spent exploring Baku’s architectural wonders and top-tier restaurants can be seamlessly complemented by ventures into the country’s more remote regions. Visitors can delve into the legacy of the Silk Road in Sheki and the charming mountain village of Basgal, renowned for its traditional kelaghayi-making, where exquisite Azerbaijani silk scarves are crafted using natural dyes.

For those seeking a truly nomadic adventure, a journey to the mountaintop village of Khinalig, perched at 2,220 meters high in the Greater Caucasus Mountains, promises an unforgettable experience. Newly developed hiking trails guide visitors through ancient paths, unveiling lush landscapes and captivating historic villages along the way.

AZAL Airlines provides convenient direct flights from Vienna to Baku three times a week – on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, making it easier than ever for Austrian travelers to explore this captivating destination. Austrian citizens can apply for an e-VISA via evisa.gov.az at least three days before their trip or opt for an urgent visa processed within 3 to 5 hours. The visa is valid for 90 days, allowing Austrian travelers to stay in Azerbaijan for up to 30 days per visit.
