Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has defended the Uttar Pradesh government’s order requiring shop owners along the Kanwar Yatra route to display their names and numbers. Speaking to media in Haridwar, Ramdev asserted that there is no need to hide one’s identity and that everyone should be proud of their name. He used a hypothetical scenario, suggesting that if he, as Ramdev, has no issue revealing his identity, then why should someone named Rahman have a problem doing the same. Ramdev further emphasized that the focus should be on the purity of work, regardless of religious affiliation. He stated that if one’s work is pure, it doesn’t matter whether they are Hindu, Muslim, or from any other community. This statement appears to be a response to criticism against the Uttar Pradesh government’s order, which some have interpreted as targeting minority communities.
