Bacon and Tyler Lead U.S. Olympic Diving Trials Semifinals

Sarah Bacon dominated the women’s 3-meter springboard semifinals at the U.S. Olympic diving trials, securing a commanding lead with a total of 341.25 points. Her consistent performance throughout the list saw her edge out Alison Gibson (317.70) and Sophie Verzyl (313.55). Krysta Palmer, the bronze medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, finished fourth with 299.30 points. This strong showing comes after Bacon earned a spot in synchronized 3-meter on Monday, and she’s now looking to qualify for a second event in Paris.

Meanwhile, Carson Tyler asserted his dominance in the men’s 10-meter platform semifinals, accumulating 477.20 points. His impressive performance included a remarkable 94.35 points on a front 41⁄2 tuck and 86.40 on a back 21⁄2 with 21⁄2. Tyler Wills trailed closely behind with 429.90 points, followed by Brandon Loschiavo at 424.75.

The top two women in the springboard finals will secure their spots on the Olympic team, while only the winner of the men’s platform will earn a ticket to Paris. The scores from the semifinals will be carried over into the finals, which are scheduled for Saturday. The stage is set for a thrilling conclusion to the trials, as athletes strive to claim their coveted places on the U.S. Olympic diving team.
