Bahrain Partners with Global Agency to Boost Golf Tourism

Bahrain is on a mission to become a leading destination for golf enthusiasts and sports investors. The Bahrain International Golf Course Company (BIGCC) has joined forces with 54, a global powerhouse in sports and entertainment, to create a strategic plan for growth. This collaboration, marked by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on September 14th, will focus on developing Bahrain’s golf tourism sector and attracting more sports investments.

The partnership envisions a holistic approach to growth, emphasizing sustainable development while boosting Bahrain’s global standing. Key elements of the plan include crafting a long-term golf tourism strategy, fostering collective participation to increase demand, and implementing best practices for environmental, social, and economic sustainability.

54 will be providing expert guidance to enhance operational efficiency, foster industry connections, and inform key development decisions. The agency will also play a crucial role in elevating Bahrain’s international profile through targeted marketing campaigns and the hosting of world-class golf events. Each of 54’s core service areas – Strategic Advisory, Asset Optimization, and Activation & Engagement – will contribute to this ambitious goal of building a thriving sports economy in Bahrain.

Jed Moore, Group CEO of 54, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “Now is the perfect time for Bahrain to take a proactive approach in developing a comprehensive and collaborative strategy in golf and sports. We are thrilled to partner with BIGCC to support this process. The GCC region has become a center for impactful sports investments and events, a trend that shows no signs of slowing down.” He emphasized the importance of adopting a holistic perspective to unlock the full potential of sports investments in a rapidly changing global and regional sports landscape.

Captain Waleed Al-Alawi, Chairman of BIGCC, shared his excitement: “We are thrilled to join forces with 54 to propel Bahrain’s golf industry to new heights. By leveraging our expertise and resources, we are confident that together, we can dedicate to not only enhancing the local golf landscape but also showcasing Bahrain as a premier destination for sports enthusiasts worldwide. The recently concluded Bahrain Championship, a DP World Tour event, marked a triumphant return to the country after many years. Its success stands as a clear example of our collective commitment to excellence. Through this transformative partnership, we are poised to redefine the sports landscape in Bahrain and set new benchmarks for excellence in the realm of golf and sports tourism.”
