Get ready for a surprising pairing in the DC Universe! While comic book fans might find it unusual, Bane and Deathstroke, two iconic Batman villains, are teaming up for a big-screen adventure.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, DC Studios, under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran, is developing a film centered around these unlikely allies. Matthew Orton, who worked on the reshoots of ‘Captain America: Brave New World’, is already on board to write the screenplay.
Bane, a powerful and cunning villain, made his live-action debut in the 1997 film ‘Batman and Robin’, but it was Tom Hardy’s portrayal in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ that cemented his place in cinematic history. Deathstroke, a deadly mercenary known as Slade Wilson, has only graced the silver screen once before, with Joe Manganiello’s cameo appearance in ‘Justice League’. There were even plans for a standalone Deathstroke film based on Ben Affleck’s original script for ‘The Batman’.
Given their contrasting goals—Deathstroke is a hired gun, while Bane is an ambitious mastermind—a team-up seems unlikely. However, the film’s premise might center on a conflict between these two formidable figures, potentially featuring one of them as an antihero.
While no director has been attached to the project yet, the film is confirmed to exist outside of Matt Reeves’ ‘Batman’ universe, which includes the current HBO Max series ‘The Penguin’. So, while the Bane and Deathstroke movie is still in its early stages, fans can expect to see these two iconic villains face off on the big screen in the coming years.
