Bank Holiday Opening Hours: Lidl, Marks and Spencer, Tesco, Aldi, Morrisons, Waitrose and More

Bank Holiday Supermarket Opening Hours

The UK’s main supermarkets may have different opening hours this weekend due to the Spring Bank Holiday.

Waitrose

Most Waitrose & Partners shops will be open during their normal hours on Monday, May 27th. Some Little Waitrose shops will be open from 7am to 10pm. Customers are encouraged to check the opening times of their local branch online before visiting. The delivery service will proceed as normal for Waitrose.com. Usual trading hours remain unchanged for Saturday, May 25th, and Sunday, May 26th.

Aldi

Aldi stores will be open during their normal hours on Saturday, May 25th, and Sunday, May 26th. These are typically 8am until 10pm on Saturdays and 10am until 4pm on Sundays. Trading hours will differ on Monday, May 27th, however, with stores in England and Wales open from 8am until 8pm. Aldi stores in Scotland will open at 8am and close at 10pm as usual.

Marks and Spencer

Marks and Spencer stores are open as usual on Saturday, May 25th, and Sunday, May 26th, 2024. Monday, May 27th, is a Bank Holiday, which means some M&S stores may open later and close earlier than usual. On the previous May bank holiday earlier this month, stores in Newcastle and Croydon opened at 9am instead of 8am and closed at 6pm instead of 7pm. Other stores didn’t change their usual opening time of 8am but did lock shop fronts two hours earlier – at 6pm rather than 8pm.

Lidl

Lidl supermarkets will be open as usual on the May Bank Holiday weekend. Stores will be open between 8am and 10pm across the UK, but shoppers can check local store opening times by using the store finder.

Tesco

Tesco stores will be open as usual this weekend, but exact hours will depend on the location and store type. Superstores will likely operate with reduced hours on Monday, May 27th, closing by 8pm. Some Tesco locations are open 24 hours a day, but larger stores open from 6am or 7am and close between 10pm and 11pm. Express stores typically remain open as usual on Bank Holidays between 6am and 11pm or midnight.

Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s shoppers will still be able to grab groceries over the Bank Holiday weekend, but opening hours may differ. Most stores will open between 7am and 10pm on Friday and Saturday, 10am until 4pm on Sunday, and 8am until 8pm on Bank Holiday Monday. Sainsbury’s convenience stores will be open as usual from 7am to 11pm. The supermarket urged customers to check its store locator for the latest details for their local branch.

Morrisons

Morrisons will be open as normal on Saturday, with most shops open from 6am or 7am until 10pm or midnight. This includes Morrisons Daily stores, the chain’s convenience store brand. Some are even 24 hours, so they will be open from midnight to midnight, but others have shorter opening hours between 6am and 11pm or midnight. On Sunday, larger Morrisons stores in England and Wales open at either 10am and 11am and close between 4pm and 5pm, as usual. Morrisons Daily stores will open from 7am until 10pm. Hours will be shorter on Bank Holiday Monday, with most stores open at 7am or 8am until 8pm. Selected shops may remain open until 10pm, but it’s best to check your local store opening times before visiting.
