Bannon Warns Trump Supporters: ‘Gut Check’ Needed Amid Election Race with Biden

Steve Bannon, a right-wing media personality and former White House chief strategist under the Trump administration, has called for a ‘gut check’ among Trump supporters as the 2024 presidential election approaches. Bannon’s comments come amid concerns that a potential rematch between Trump and Biden, who have secured the Republican and Democratic party nominations, respectively, may be unpopular with voters. Hypothetical general election matchups have generally shown a neck-and-neck race between the two candidates.

Bannon, who was convicted in 2022 of two counts of contempt of Congress for dismissing a subpoena to testify before the House January 6 committee, emphasized the need for Trump’s supporters to fully commit to the campaign. He warned that Biden has the support of the media, higher education, and the entertainment industry, segments in which Trump lacks support. Bannon also highlighted Biden’s financial advantage, noting that the Democratic incumbent has access to $2 billion.

According to a recent Public Opinion Strategies poll for News, Biden holds a 9-point lead over Trump among those who voted in the 2020 general election and 2022 midterms. However, the poll also found that in a five-way ballot, which included candidates from other parties, the race becomes more competitive. While some polls have suggested a potential Trump victory, others have predicted a close contest. Most polls, however, show the candidates running neck and neck, and with more than six months before voters hit the polls, the figures are bound to change.
